Adam Lowry and Mason Appleton scored two quick goals in the third period to help the Winnipeg Jets beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 on Sunday.
The Jets (5-0-0) remain the only undefeated team this season in the National Hockey League.
This is also the best start to a campaign in the organization’s history.
Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, Vladislav Namestnikov and Nino Niederreiter, into an empty net, also scored for the Jets.
Nikolaj Ehlers, Colin Miller and Josh Morrissey each had two assists.
Lars Eller scored twice in the Penguins’ 3-4-0 loss. Veteran Kevin Hayes also scored.
Eric Comrie, making his first start this season, was brilliant in the win with 39 saves.
Alex Nedeljkovic, also making his first start of the season, stopped 31 shots for the Penguins.
Kings 4 — Ducks 1
Adrian Kempe, Alex Laferriere, Kevin Fiala and Mikey Anderson all found the back of the net in the third period and the Los Angeles Kings beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-1.
Vladislav Gavrikov had two assists and David Rittich made 15 saves for the Kings.
Ryan Strome scored the Ducks’ lone goal with 1:46 left in the third period to cut the lead to one, but Fiala and Anderson scored into an empty net to put the game out of reach.
Lukas Dostal stopped 34 shots in the loss.
The Kings have won their last two games after starting the season with a 1-1-2 record.
Avalanche 4 — Sharks 1
Ross Colton scored twice, Justus Annunen made 25 saves in his first start of the season and the Colorado Avalanche beat the San Jose Sharks 4-1.
Cale Makar scored an empty-net goal and added two assists. Joel Kiviranta scored the other goal for the Avalanche.
William Eklund provided the response for the Sharks (0-4-2), who have still not had a victory this season.
Colton has five goals in his last three games, and he also scored twice against the Ducks on Friday in the Avalanche’s first win of the season.
Against the Sharks, he gave his team a 2-0 lead with two goals in the first period.
Makar has already collected 10 assists in six games this season and has collected at least one point in each of them.
Vitek Vanecek stopped 18 shots for the Sharks.
